ORAL CALCIUM – TAKE HOME PREPARATION

This week we discussed alternate oral calcium preparation.

At the moment, ANMF formulary illustrates how to prepare neonatal oral calcium preparation using CalSource Ca1000 effervescent tablets (Novartis).

But now, Calsource Ca1000 is discontinued.

Our pharmacy group worked out an alternate preparation now using CAL-600 tablets.

Dissolve a CAL-600 tablet (600mg of elemental calcium) in 30 mL water to make a 0.5mmol/mL solution.
